About Us

The name says it all. We have managed our 1300+ acre ranch for nearly 14 years now and have created a natural trophy whitetail environment which gives one the opportunity to hunt and watch the Big Bucks Fall.

Kirk Gibson and David Wells purchased Buck Falls Ranch in 1996 after becoming friends and teammates on the Detroit Tigers in 1994. One day Kirk was looking through a hunting merchandise catalogue and David asked “What are you looking for?”. Kirk responded, “hunting gear for the upcoming deer season”, and David replied, “I’ll go”. Off to the woods they went for David’s first hunting experience, and he was hooked forever. Since those early days of rifle season, David and Kirk realize they enjoy archery hunting to maximize their whitetail hunting experience. Though Buck Falls Ranch will allow a few rifle management hunts late in the season, we are promoting the archery experience as your means to experience harvesting a trophy whitetail deer.

In 2004, David went to play for his hometown team, the San Diego Padres, where he became teammates with Jake Peavy. Jake, hunting since a young man in Alabama, was urged by David to check out his ranch in Michigan. After his first visit to Buck Falls, Jake knew that David and Kirk had created a hunting destination that he would return to year after year. Jake brought close friends and family with him to share in the experience and realized this was a special place. In January of 2009, Jake became an owner in Buck Falls Ranch with David and Kirk.

We hope you enjoy your trip around the BFR website. You will see how we have preserved our natural environment and witness the beauty of our animals. We have won World Championships, Cy Young, and MVP awards in our baseball careers. Please consider Buck Falls Ranch as your opportunity to hunt in the World Series of archery whitetail deer hunting. You too can experience the ultimate trophy.

Hope to see you at BFR,
